Synaptive Medical’s neurosurgery technology is helping surgeons in Toledo, Ohio, change the way patients are treated. ProMedica Toledo Hospital’s neurosurgical team, led by Dr. Kevin Reinard, was recently featured using the technology on three Toledo television outlets.
“This is revolutionary, this is something that we were dreaming about. It allows surgeons to navigate around the brain like we were never able to do before,” Dr. Reinard told reporters from CBS’ WTOL 11 TV station. “We can get to tumors that were inoperable and take those out safely now.”
In the 13ABC News web story, Dr. Reinard observed that Synaptive’s technology, “allows us to do a safer surgery in a shorter amount of time. Before we even make an incision, we can utilize a computer to make an incision. We can work out the exact trajectory of attack and the size of our opening and incision.”
ProMedica Toledo Hospital is the largest acute care facility in the Toledo area, and is named one of Healthgrades’ 100 Best Hospitals in America. ProMedica acquired Synaptive’s technology in October 2017 and is the first hospital in Ohio to use it.
